Gdsn. John Ferguson, joined the Regiment in 1953 and is one of those unique Gdsn.
who passed out in Tunic order and two days later was Street Lining for her Majesty's
Coronation, June 1953. He joined the Bt. at Victoria Brks, Windsor carrying
out Public Duties both at the Castle and London. The Bt. was then posted to
Eygpt, where John undertook security duties in the Canal Zone for a further year.
He returned to the UK to continue Public Duties before returning to 'civvy' street.
John is the father of four and a very well known local builder. He is also
very well known for his abilities at functions as a brilliant Chairman and entertainer. | L/Sgt.
Cook E. joined the Regiment in 1958, during training at Caterham and Pirbright,
he was a outstanding recruit, and a member of the Boxing and Basketball teams.
He joined No. 1 Coy. 2nd Bat. at Wellington Brks. and then posted to Kenya, he
was soon established as a valuable member of the Regiment, and quickly promoted
to L/Sgt. His shooting prowess earned him a place in the Battalion team, along
with his strong contention in the Boxing team, he soon became a popular member
of No. 2 Coy. On his return to the UK. and civvy st. he joined I.C.I. and stayed
with the company for 30 yrs. |
