The meeting was held to discuss the Race Meeting on Saturday, 31st May 2008,
at which the Coldstream Guards Association Cup race will be held.
The reason for the
early date this year is that after the August meeting at
to allow improvement to the drainage on the course to take place.
As usual we will have the Sportsman’s Bar for exclusive use by Association members, there will be two Guardsmen from the Recruiting team
to ensure members only are allowed, please carry your Association membership card with you,
or the official guest card provided by Branch Secretaries.
The Regimental Band will not be available this year due the first rehearsal of the Queen’s Birthday Parades.
The price of tickets has been kindly maintained by York Racecourse at the same price as last year.
Grandstand and Paddock at £11.00 per head.
This is a Bank Holiday weekend and entrance is free for any children under the age of 16 years of age.
PLEASE NOTE: Tickets can only be obtained from the Racecourse by Branch Secretaries
The Coldstream Cup this year will be presented by Mr David Ackroyd former President of York Branch.
There will be fairground facilities on the course and it is hoped to have some kind of military equipment on display.
There will be catering and a tipster in the Sportsman’s Bar.
The race itself will be run at 4.45hrs and will be a two miles race for 4 year old horses.
The boy/girl handler of the Best Turned Out horse will receive a gift of £50.00.
This race day is becoming a very popular day among Association members and their guests, so come along and meet old friends/comrades
I have been informed that Regimental Sergeant Major A Johnson,
of the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards will be in attendance.
