JANUARY MEETING 2009

 

Minutes of the meeting held on Saturday 3rd January 2009 in the Marton Hotel & Country Club,

Stokesley Road, Marton, Middlesbrough.

 

The Chairman opened the meeting at 12.00hrs.

 

PRESENT:   N Wise (Vice Chairman), J Ferguson, (Deputy Secretary), I Camp (Treasurer),

                       V/P M C Finkill, G Bell, C Westerman, D Castelow, P Knox, T Campbell, J Roddam &  

                       P Dickenson.                      

                    

Apologies: E Cook (Secretary), D Smith,  Sgt Bumby, A Mercer, P Hellings & F Gilchrist.

                                                

Minutes of the Previous Meeting: The minutes of the meeting held on Saturday, December 6th 2008 were read and deemed a true record.

 

Proposed: D Castelow.                                                                 Seconded: J Roddam. And Carried

 

Matters arising from the minutes: Nil

 

Correspondence: In: a) Bank Statement

                                        Comms. from South Durham Household Div. with a invite to attend

                                        ‘Burns Supper’ at the Billingham Golf Club. Enquiries to John Keegan

                                         Hon. Sec. of the SDHDA.

                                   

                                        Out: a) Bank Statement to Treasurer.

                                  b) CD to RHQ with gazette details for 2008

                                  c) Newsletter & 2009 Branch dates to those in attendance

 

Matters arising from the correspondence: Nil

 

Proposed: D.Castelow                   Seconded: J. Roddam       That the correspondence be adopted.

 

Treasurers Report: Treasurer I Camp gave a detailed report of the accounts, he had received the bank statement, Accounts to be audited up to December 31st 2008 an sheets prepared for Regimental Accountants

                                                                 

Welfare Report: See below

 

Social Secretary: Social Secretary J Ferguson reported on the Christmas lunch which had been enjoyed by all in attendance, and went on to ask for names for the St George’s Dinner.

The Treasurer endorsed the Chairman’s comment and added that the Xmas Lunch had shown a profit of £130, the bulk of this proceeds of the raffle.

 

Any Other Business: V/President M Finkill gave a very good updated report on the condition of our Secretary E Cook.

   The Chair then informed the meeting of his working relationship with Mannie Cook, during their time working for ICI, describing the very invasive conditions that the Hon. Sec. encountered while he was a  Supervisor on the Nylon Plant at Wilton.

                                                                                                           

T Campbell informed the Branch member that J Roddam had received Life membership of the Royal British Legion and asked that it be recorded in the minutes. Agreed.

Tom also informed the branch that his 14 year old grandson who lives in Canada who suffers with Bells Palsy and adores the Coldstream Guards has now been informed that he is able to join the Armed Forces in some administration role, we wish him well, this young man was made a special Associate member of the branch last year.

 

Being no further business to discuss the Chairman thanked those in attendance and closed the meeting at 13.00hrs.

 

***The next meeting will be held on Saturday, February 7th 2009*** THIS WILL BE THE AGM
