Sgt. F. Harrison's Squad, Caterham June 1915

The Branch are very proud to have received the military effects of our former member 16022 Pte. Leslie Browne.
Leslie served the Regiment with great distinction from March 1915 to Dec, 1918.
During his service in WW1 he fought in the battles of, Ypres 1915, Somme 1916, Arras 1918, Cambria 1917-18, Hazebrouk and the Hindenburg Line.
He was badly wounded while taking part in the rescue of a Bt. Officer, despite this he remained in active duty till the end of hostilities.
He was then appointed cashier at the Inner Temple and went on to become the Treasurer.
During WW2 part of his duties was fire warden on the roof tops of the Temple, on two occasions he was buried by falling masonry and just escaped drowning when trapped in a broken watermain, he received commendations for his actions.
Lelsie lived a self sufficient and very active life and remained a strong Branch member till his demise at the age of 96
