THE COLDSTREAM GUARDS ASSOCIATION  DAY 2008

1.   Association Day 2008 will take place at Victoria Barracks, Windsor on Saturday 12th July The day will commence at 1100 hrs and bars will close probably at 1700 hours and everyone is asked to leave the barracks by 1800 hours.

2.   The Battalion marquee will be set up with a fully stocked bar and limited seating.  An arena will be established on the main square with seating on two sides for those who wish to watch the arena events, the details of which  have yet to be confirmed.

3.   There will a bouncy castle, Punch and Judy show and magician and a face-painter for the children.  It is hoped to get some kiddies rides and some sideshows.

4.   In addition to the above the 1st Battalion and Number 7 Company will be asked to provide an arena display and they will also set up some static displays of modern clothing and equipment, rations etc.

5.   The Regimental Band will play throughout the day and will close the proceeding with a marching display and  the National Anthem.   Subject to their duties it is hoped that the Corps of Drums will be on parade with the Band.

6.   The Master Cook of the battalion will produce a BBQ lunch which will be served between 1230, and 1430 hours.  Tea, coffee and juice will be available with meals.  Regrettably a charge (yet to be set) will be made for the meal..    The Commanding Officer has said that any officer, past or present, wishing to take lunch in the Officers Mess may do so for which a Mess Bill will be raised.

7.   It is planned to hold a shooting competition with trophies/prizes for the winner/s in the following categories:

Best shot/highest score of the day

            Winning Branch

Highest score in the Sgts Past and Present and Officers Competitions.

            Ladies Teams/Individual

8.   All branches and/or individuals wishing to take part in the shooting competition must register with the Stats Tent.  Branch teams must not consist of more than four (4) firers.  Eligible members of Branch Teams who wish to have their score included in the Sgts P&P/officers competition must inform the Stats Tent when they register.  There will be a registration fee of £10 (cash only) per Branch team and £2 per individual.

9.   There is no room for parking of coaches and private cars in barracks. Coaches will be required to drop off their passengers at the barracks gate and will then be directed to a central car park away from barracks.  A member of the coach party should have the contact number of their driver so that the coach can be called forward at the end of the day or when the Branch wants to leave, whichever is earlier.  Cars will be directed to an alternative parking facility where mini buses will transport people to barracks.   Parking permits will be required.  A shuttle service will be in operation to return people to the car park at the end of the day. Please apply to RHQ   for coach and car parking permits soonest and by 28 June 2008 at the latest

10.   Any Branch who wishes to set up a stall in Victoria Barracks should let me know by  25th April 2008.  This is a great opportunity for Branches to make some money for Branch funds.  I will need to know  what  the stall will be, what tentage is required, what furniture (tables/chairs) will be required.

11.   There will be no vehicular movement in barracks after 1030 hours so Branches bringing a stall must arrive at the barracks in time to unload, set up and move their vehicle to the designated vehicle park outside of barracks.  Branches requiring an entry permit for the stall vehicle should apply to RHQ as above.

12.   All members of The Coldstream Guards Association are to be in possession of their Association Membership cards at all times.  Entry to Victoria Barracks may be refused to those who turn up without it

13.   A programme will be on sale for £2 this will also act as a raffle ticket for the prize draw to be held at the end of the day.

14.    In the event of a security alert and we are required to evacuate Barracks instructions will be announced by the Stats Tent.

15.   I hope this is sufficient information to enable Branches to  brief their members.  I believe that, weather permitting; we will have a truly enjoyable day so please encourage your members to attend..  Please telephone me if I can be of more help. I will write again nearer the time and I look forward to seeing you at Windsor.
